About/FAQ

Seaforth! belongs to a grander era of grooming.

First established in 1938, Seaforth! captured the rugged energy of the historic Highland regiments and became an absolute fixture in the shave dens of mid-century men, before going defunct in the 1980s. In 2020, the brand was meticulously rescued from history by Dennis McPike, who combined a passion for vintage shaving artifacts with modern artisan craftsmanship. In 2026, Seaforth! entered its next chapter under a new brand steward, Benjamin Esposito.

Seaforth! is committed to engineering uncompromising, high-performance soaps, splashes, and military-grade hardware that carry this legendary tradition well into the future.

Our History

The Origins: 1938
The Seaforth! story began when founder Alfred D. McKelvy set out to create a distinctively masculine, premium grooming line. Drawing inspiration from the legendary Scottish regiment (the Seaforth Highlanders) McKelvy designed a brand steeped in heritage, housed in iconic ceramic jugs reminiscent of old Scotch whisky pottery.

The brand's first scent was Heather n Fern, later shortened to just Heather.  A few years later, they added Spiced, and more.

Seaforth’s signature blends quickly became a household standard across the United States, standing as a direct, spirited competitor to the grooming brands of the era. If you ask around, there is a very good chance your grandfather had a jug of Seaforth! sitting proudly on his shelf.

Dennis McPike’s Revival
As the grooming landscape shifted toward cheap plastics and synthetic aerosols, the independent spirit of the original brand eventually faded, and Seaforth! vanished in the 1980s.

Decades later, Dennis McPike stumbled across an old, forgotten Seaforth! bottle. Struck by the incredible branding, he dug into the archives and was shocked to find that one of the most popular men's brands in American history had been completely lost to time. Believing it was a tragedy for that heritage to disappear, Dennis set out to save it.

Beginning in 2020, he successfully resurrected the vintage-inspired soul of Seaforth!, pairing classic design aesthetics with premium performance. Working alongside renowned artisan perfumer Shawn Maher, they brought the classic names like Heather, Black Watch, Spiced, and more out of the history books and back to the shave den.

Our Hardware Legacy: The Spearhead Case
Alongside the soap revival, Dennis developed the Spearhead Safety Razor Case, a project born from the same love of vintage shaving artifacts. The Spearhead Case is a modern reproduction of the famous 1918 Gillette Khaki Set issued to soldiers during WWI. We are proud to keep this brilliant, compact design as a permanent fixture of the Seaforth! lineup, manufactured right here in the USA using rugged, modern, mil-spec materials to preserve a piece of military history.

The Next Chapter: The Mark II Era
In 2026, the stewardship of Seaforth! and its hardware legacy officially passed to Benjamin Esposito.

This era marked a new evolution for the brand. Our design language remained loyal to the 1938 visual heritage, while we rebuilt our signature formula from the ground up to introduce the Highland Mark II Soap Base - an incredibly dense, high-performance lather enriched with tons of shea butter and jojoba oil.

We are proud to produce these quality goods with transparency, honesty, and integrity. Thank you for being a part of this revival.
